Once again it was that time of year. Our annual day after Thanksgiving fishing trip to Montauk. We had our biggest crew to date. Capt. Tony, Crab, Adam, The brothers Wood, (2 x
Eric's) Mr. Hansen and Baumbach. Unfortunately due to the rough conditions we were not able to fish until Sunday. So on Sunday we hit the morning diamond jigging trip on the "Lazy Bones"...Sunday was also Brian's 35th Birthday. The morning was slow but the birthday boy was able to pull in one keeper, he also lost a very nice fish. The rest of us continued to catch blue fish all morning...As the day wore on and the weather warmed up a little the action heated up..We were working South West of the Lighthouse on one of our last drifts and then a few people started getting some keepers..The captain already blew the horn to go home, but he changed his mind after seeing the results from the last drift. The final drift of the trip was absolutely banana's. Bass were flying into the boat like crazy. Blood every where. Of course there was also the occasional monster blue fish being thrown onto the deck as well. The boat turned into complete chaos, Mac the
T-Ronie mate was running all over the place. Adam and I had noticed 2 large bass hanging out at the surface by the boat. We both immediately cast in their direction. I was able to bring my jig up just underneath both of them. My rod went down like a rock. I was in,
zzzzzzzzzzzzz, the fish took out like 30 ft of line. He gave a me a great fight. During most of the fight he was swimming on the surface. He probably took out my line 3 or 4 times. I eventually won the battle and got the fish into the boat. What a relief, I was spent, I needed a beer...Eric Baumbach was able to get a keeper in the same
blitz.. My fish ended up wining the pool. The beer was delicious. It was another successful Montauk trip. –
